I've been experimenting with some B&W conversions that make more of a 35mm look.

It's getting closer.

Good God, Jules, that is a fine looking portrait! Shocked What program did you use for the conversion?

Thanks much Bill,
No program (Well, PS) It's a process involving LAB color. I'll write it down.

Cheers

Jules

Man you nailed the exposure, natural light, right? If flash, you did some very
tasty diffusion!

And oh forgot, very pretty lady! Smile

Yes she's a beauty.

Flash, actually two strobes, one bounced off a wall in front of her then one above to her left (on low power) through an old, ratty, browned and water stained umbrella for soft highlight, then in processing I pumped the mids up slightly to give the effect of even softer highlights.

Beautiful lady, rich deep tones in the conversion, and I am amazed at the detail in the jewelry.

Beautiful Jules
What a fierce looking and beautiful pose.
This girl looks very strong in this image.
I hope you tell us the technique you are coming up with it looks great.

Ditto on the technique, particularly if all you use is PS.

What Photoshop magic is going on here ?

Thanks so much for your comments, I do appreciate them.

I posted the process in the "Techniques" board. It's a bit long but very customizeable, no plug-ins and works with all Photoshop versions that have Layers, probably with some modification on other software also.

It doesn't work for all pics but for some it's works very well.

Cheers

Jules

Hey Jules (you old-timer, 5 years older than me!).

WONDERFUL portraiture, simply an amazing conversion. I would bet that the model would be quite pleased with this result.
