"Plantasia" is a large glasshouse which is run by the local council. It costs 3.50 GBP to get in - but it's only 13 GBP for a yearly ticket. Yesterday I tried out my recently acquired Volna 9.

Volna 9 on Nikon D40x with Kood infinity adapter (glass); ambient light +on-board flash; f/8; RAW capture with some PS work (highlights/shadows/ levels); no sharpening except for use of "bicubic sharper" when re-sizing.

my favorite is Phalaenopsis hybrid

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm not sure that I'm quite there. Focussing close, hand held, is very tricky - and I think I need a better flash. But I'm quite pleased with the start.
