These are all done by Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 (GF1 in short),
one morning in Kyoto. It covers only small portion of Kyoto city.
The lens is 20mm F1.7 pancake, photos are all Jpeg outputs from GF1.

Tatami-mat shop (this lens should be used with a good hood of course, but did not have one.)

Ordinary Kyoto style house with a modern convenience

Old coffee shop (called INODA, started 1940)

Coffee grinding machine (made in USA) in front of the shop

Young (newly wed) couple (on honeymoon)

Old coffee machines

Tabi shop (tabi = japanese style socks)

Small temple with Manji Symbol (left swastika, sanskrit origin of "bring a good thing" unfortunately similar right swastika was used by Nazi) everywhere

Shop for household items

St. Agunes church (built 1889)

An entrance to Emperor's place

.....Continued. The rest were shot my M8 + G-Biogon 21/2.8, after coffee...

Old and modern in the city

Old style soy-source maker (yes, sorta hand made) "Kikkorman" is now industrial processor, but used to be like this shop originally.

And its back yard (Soy-source is had made with that big "TARU" barrel)

And their processing storages (called "KURA" warehouse for fermenting)


It kinda difficult to make a photo story if I separate them in MF and AF shots. Smile

Tip: you can use a baseball cap or a hat :)
(I use my baseball cap all the time because the hoods just sometimes don't suffice..)

I believe the Inoda coffee shop you covered is the original one which partly looks like a museum, there is another one nearby on Sanjo which is very nice too!

Thanks for showing...

Everytime I see photos taken in Japan, I feel an urge to go there.
This is a dream I still have. Travelling to Japan for 10 days or so.
One day...

At this size there is no IQ difference between these two cam/lens-combinations.
