thank you BRunner and Fish
so many very good photos in this thread..
these two last photos of your granddaughter, Fish, are very very sweet.
I like a lot that they are very 'environmental', how they show the magic world of a child, how they make me see with the child's eye.
Very inspirational, thank's for sharing them!
( I made a folder at my photobucket account to host the portraits I show here which includes some more and I may add more soon:

Looks nice, I have an old Agfa Duto filter that gives similar effect, but lighter and less regular . _________________ "Any good modern lens is corrected for maximum definition at the larger stops. Using a small stop only increases depth..." Ansel Adams

There were so many incredible photos..I chose these three as my favorites. Thanks to all for posting. I will go back and rate them once I have the requisite amount of posts.
Each of these three are telling me a story of the person; a very interesting one which holds my attention. I, often in my life, would paint portraits of women. There is an essence and mystery within women, for me, and I would often spend more than 100 hours on each painting. I could paint from these photos, and enjoy every minute.
This first one of the young girl; there is an honesty in her gaze; untarnished yet from the world. The light creates a soft palette of color on her face. The background blur has the tone of an underpainting...quite lovely.

This second photo is masterful. The light streaming in could well have been harsh and blown out, but it is not; it is controlled and softened and seems to wrap around the beautiful woman. The dark beads and her dark eyes have a harmony together within all of that light. And she is telling a story...of what it is to be her, standing in that light in that moment. Bravo, Orio!
