In May, my wife and I spent a couple of days in Vienna. We spent the second day looking at art and buildings of the Vienna Secession.

So, one of the Wagner Pavilions, orginally a railway station, now a museum ...

Nearby the Library of the Vienna University of Technology....

It's modern but there's obviously a look to the past ....

And then the Secession Building itself ....

Our main target was Gustav Klimt's Beethoven Frieze which is housed in the basement. Obviously I can't show you a picture but Google will provide lots of information.

Another short walk and we found the Wagner Appartments, the most famous of which is the Majolica House ...

The Belvedere Palace ....

....is not of the period but it houses a number of paintings by Klimt, including "The Kiss". Again, Google will find a picture.

Pictures are from a set of ten : http://johnmaud.zenfolio.com/p273701749

The site has a slideshow player but I'm not sure if it's colour managed - colours seem a little off.

Snapshots were taken using a Nikon D7000 with a Nikon 40 mm f/2.8 MICRO or a Sigma 10 - 20 mm f/4 - 5.6.

great to see a 'tourist' appreciating some of the goodies I particularly like of a city which is half my home, thank you for showing!
to mention that the station that has become a museums is one out of two stations designed by Otto Wagner that don't serve their original purpose, all others are still operating as stations ( of Station Burggasse I had shared a few pics I had taken while commuting )

Orio - yes indeed, beautiful. Vienna is a real treasure house.

Andreas - thanks for your kind comments. It was a real pleasure to visit your city and see in person some of the jewels which I've long admired as pictures in books and on the internet.
