This is very interesting, thank you.

I can't say if other EU countries have a similar scheme.

There is no VAT on antiques and collectibles out of personal property, any potential profit on them being speculative rather than productive (with exceptions - if the authorities catch a dealer creating a artificial market they may VAT him). The services of the auctioneer however are subject to VAT, and any of his charges must hence contain it.

Exactly. You have to identify clearly the prices including VAT or excluded VAT.
With professional customers I'm only talking "without VAT".

VAT policies are very complicated, mostly because each european country have it's own.
There are lots of Internet sites selling products internationally that display the product price and after you select the destination of the product, they add the shipping price and the VAT if appliable.
And in the US happen the same, if you buy from B&H to ship to NY for example, they add a 8% of local tax.
The good thing is that if you have a valid European VAT ID you can buy without VAT.
Merry Christmas from Lodz, Poland... I will visit some antiques shops before I leave back to Spain. I did buy some years ago a nice Start medium format camera, a smiena, a plastic Ami and a Russian fed.
