I'm not really a collector in the sense of wanting to own multiple variants of the same camera, but I do like to have different types of camera to use. Here is my modest little selection of Soviet cameras, all of which are being used although I have yet to finish the films in the Zorkii and the Moscow.

The Lubitel 2 is a bit of a pain to focus, but stunningly sharp for a simple triplet lens. I have quite a few sets on Flickr including one from Bath: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31364196@N04/sets/72157627035757102/ and Venice http://www.flickr.com/photos/31364196@N04/sets/72157626168553847/.
The Horizon is also great fun to use but mine has a light leak which I need to get fixed. The are some images from it on Flickr too: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31364196@N04/sets/72157627336743231/

I agree about the lubitel 2. It has undeservedly (because of the lomography crowd) gotten the reputation as a 'toy' camera. It's not at all. It's a very basic TLR, no less. The focus screen is a pain though. The triplet lens has character at f4.5 (wide-open) but is pretty darn sharp at f8.
I can not personally attest to this but some people say the Lubitel 2 gives higher quality images than the later Lubitel 166B/V. |
