Thanks Excalibur. I know you are interested in the period, too Smile I have more photos from the fair, taken with other lenses.
Will post them when possible.

Very nic pictures again.
Is there an advantage in using the Tessar instead of your Planar for this kind of pictures? Or did you take the Tessar just because of it is smaller?

#3 qualifies perfectly for top food photography. Light, composition, DOF.
Fly included.

Thanks again Orio, great series. Over here "medievo" is Civil War era (about 250 years)

Excellent series, Orio. I adore #1 with the garlics

Hi Orio, nice series!
No matter which camera you use, your shots have an special feeling: perfectly composed, sharp, with a delicate colouring, always ready to go straigth to the print shop Wink
I like very much your "middle age" and "popular dance" series, it looks like in your area those festivals happens quite often. I like them a lot, only found one once in my country (long ago), and was not up to the level you show in yours, (careful dressing and environment).
Please keep visiting those events for us all Smile
Thanks for sharing!
Regards.
Jes.

Thank you, guys!

No advantage, Minolfan. The Tessar is nice, but the Planar is a better lens.
There are fans of both however. They render differently.

After 6 years of use of the AE version, I just wanted to try this MM version Smile

Thanks Sorin. I was delighted to have the fly in the frame - just like in a Flemish still life of the 17th century! Smile
(by the way, there are two flies, who finds the other one wins a virtual glass of cider)

Thanks Patrick. If it's of any consolation, in some areas here we still live in the Middle Ages Rolling Eyes

Thanks Nisseliten. Me too Smile In fact that is why I put it first. The sky light was just caressing the garlics.
When there is light like this, taking photographs is very easy

Thank you much Jes! Photographing and composing comes at the same time for me, I have an archive of imagery in my mind
due to my years of studying the arts and sometimes there happen situations that just fish something in my pond.
For instance, the second photo triggered instantly in my mind the recollection of Vermeer's "The Milkmaid" and that is why
I rushed and photographed it. There are poses that survive through the ages and represent themselves in the reality!

Yes, there are quite several events of this kind around here, although this year the crisis has brought to the cancelation or resizing of several of them.
This one happens in Castell'Arquato which is 20km from my home so I don't even have to travel to go there, I'm very lucky.
I love these events too and one of the reasons are indeed the costumes. It is my belief that humans look much more interesting, artistically, in those old costumes
than in the tasteless clothing of today. Those costumes even force the people to move gracefully instead of vulgarly as they do in those torn jeans and t-shirts that look like adverts. Rolling Eyes

On the rim of the wooden bowl, positioned at about 12 o' clock?

And as always, great eye and technique.

Excellent series, Orio, and my favourite is the food shot with the two flies (the second fly is on the rear of the bowl's rim). I like my Tessar 2.8/50 because of the colour rendering and your shots make me think the quality is common across all the Tessar focal lengths.

Thank you very much for sharing those fantastic moments and impressions by showing your well-done pictures.

I love those medieval markets.

I love your medieval series! Colour and sharpness looks great...surely one of the greatest Tessars ever?
