Lucky me ,I came home and this little fellow was sitting on the power line then flew into the tree!! He/she allowed me to get fairly close before flying off. These are all crops with PP...I took them at F8...probably should have gone F5.6(would that be right thinking...lower the F stop to get the birds face a bit clearer??..doesn't help that it has a mask!!) or lower due to shooting into the blue sky.

Thanks guys...yeah they are not that funny when they start laughing at the crack of dawn... Laughing If it had come a little later it would have been the perfect evening light...oh well I took what I could...I was just happy it landed close by.
Thanks Attila It was nice to know I was on the right track with the F stops Very Happy

Based on my understanding, some Eucalypti are actually called Gums in Australia.

I have tried in vain to find the name of this tree it is a eucalyptus gum of some sort...But I can not find it on google. It is the only one in town.
I found it I think
http://anpsa.org.au/e-cae.html This is the flower as seen in some other photos I have posted and it describes the bark....but we are no where near western Australia!!!
This is a better link

I am impressed with your "general knowledge", besides your photography skills Orio. Thank you for broadening my horizons.

Thanks for the links on the Eucalyptus,Mo -I love the aroma of the leaves.
