I bought this 80/1.8 from Peter ages ago, unfortunately i was getting poor results with it and an SMC Tak 50/1.4, so i was ready to ditch the whole M42 thing as i was to inconsistent.
2 weeks ago i sat down and tried to figure out the problems, with a little help from the Sigma forum, i concluded the problems were with the adapters i got from hk300, they were too thin and thus not able to get the correct registration distance. My SD14 seems to back focus as well and the viewfinder is hard work for manual focus. I had a hit ratio of about 10%. Very frustrating, but i do love what this camera can do when the stars align..
I mounted the Pancolar on a JTAT adapter on Saturday and got these....
This could be my new favourite lens, you should see these in full res Thanks Peter..... _________________ Cheers

I always wondered what happened to you and your Pancolar. The Sigma is indeed a difficult system to use. But those portraits... Your photos really show why I think the Pancolar is one of the best portrait lenses ever.
Now I really hope you use it a bit more! _________________ Peter - Moderator
