Who ARE Samyang? They seem to make interesting lenses...I wonder if the chap that owns the company is like the one that owns Cosina...a photog buff who can fill a nice niche with some interesting products using modern mass production to keep the price close to what normal non-Leica buyers can afford...

Samyang seems to have a Japan connection:

Wooowww.. my goodness!
I hope soon Samyang also makes this lens:
- much much cheaper than Canon - 17 or 18mm tilt-shift
- cheaper than Zeiss ZE - 17 or 18mm small lens for landscape when need to traveling light. The Sammy 14mm is good but I need filter ring for CPL
- much much cheaper than Canon - 200mm f/2 ... hohoho _________________ Carl Zeiss Jena: Biotar 58/2 1Q, DDR Pancolar 80/1.8 MC, Biotar 75/1.5, Biotar 10cm/2, DDR Sonnar 135/3.5 MC

The last 2 lenses from Samyang (85/1.4 and 35/1.4) have been exactly what I'm looking for (fast primes, much cheaper than the name brand alternatives), and when i heard they announced the 24/1.4, i realized they must have a direct link to my brain, because they keep making the exact focal lengths i need, with the fast aperture i love.
I really hope this lens is cheaper, or the same price as the 35, but i think it's unlikely. Either way, my "realistic wish-list" now consists of a 3rd Samyang. _________________ Stills: SLR: Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP, DSLR: Canon EOS Rebel XTi, Canon EOS 7D

Yummy, that sounds very nice.
When you look at the sortiment of Samyang (8mm F3.5, 14mm F2.8, 24mm F1.4, 35mm F1.4, 85mm F1.4) also a 50mm lens with much light-power is missing
Maybe it's the next step _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

They should make a 50 1.2 or similar, it would be nice to see what they're capable of.
Also, i'd love to see them making a telephoto lens or a macro. |

...except that Samyang makes their own lenses and often sells them, rebranded through other companies. In fact, while my Samyang 85/1.4 is branded Rokinon, a friend has exactly the same lens, but it is branded Vivitar. |
