Hi friends,
after being so impressed by the original 1.5/5cm Sonnar, I decided to get a C Sonnar, here are the first portrait pics:

All of them taken at f1.5-2.0. I'm very pleased with the result, didn't notice any focus shift problem. What do you guys think?

Very beautiful woman (you lucky one!), perfectly focused.
I like all the photos except perhaps #2
# 3 is a masterpiece and showcases perfectly the magic of the Sonnar 1.5/50 and why it has become a legendary lens over the decades.
#4 and #5 follow close.

Congratulations, great portraits, now I expect the logical next step, that is, printing them yourself with chemicals Wink

Perfect in every regard!!
Excellent work Sandy Smile

it looks like you may be joing me as a reflex refugee Laughing
there is little IMHO that comes close to the character of these RF sonnars
both old and new.

Cheers
Andy

Thank you for your lovely photos, and examples by C Sonnar 50/1.5.

My Russian Jupiter 50/1.5 is quite a nice lens. This C Sonner is a distant
cousin of my jupiter 50/1.5, which might have been made by CJZ under
russian occupation.

Thanks friends, I'm glad you like the results!

This is what I was looking for, the old sonnar look, will make a comparison soon, between the old and the new one.
Here are the two generations:

The first difference I have noticed, the aperture blades differ from the original one, it's not perfect round.

Thanks Orio, #3 is my favourite too, nearly the picture I wanted to take, I have more from this "set", just an old tree. Smile
Hmm, printing, yes, I really would like to see them printed. I gave up on inkjet printers, so many problems...
Chemicals are the way to go, right? At least it would match with the wanted style, I need to learn more about this - soon! Wink

Andy, yes, it's a dangerous game Laughing , I wasn't sure about taking portraits with a rangefinder, but the first "session" was fine, more to come. Wink
Perhaps it takes a bit more time, but framing is very nice (at least at 50mm with the RD1). Time will tell... actually, the Biogon 25 is almost here Wink

Thank you Koji. The Jupiter was/is on my wishlist, but I wasn't sure if it will work with coupling, this is new territory for me. But now I found out that some adapters will allow the rangerfinder coupling, good news.

WoW those are good photographs, the sonnar and you let the moment through. The only one where I had focus problems is the one with the cat, my attention split there Laughing which is neither the lens', your, or your model's fault

thanks for sharing those top beautiful portraits, you are very lucky

all those portraits are perfect to me, I like this b&w and compositions rock

I am impressed by your blog http://www.algarve-photo.com/contax, Such daily work with top lenses with comments in English and French.
I wondered, Carlsson joke with us and keep all pics out of MFlenses
but with this nice series, I see I was wrong

Nah, the blog is fun for friends, more spam, something which I wouldn't load on the forum. Wink
Yes, I saw them first in color, but BW conversion rocked much more. Thank you.

Thank you Xpress, that was exactly my goal. Wink

The next one should be Biogon 25/2.8 ZM, highly recommended.
This lens is phenomenal if you like wide angle lens, this is it! Very Happy

Congrats, it is said to be the best out of the whole ZM range as a "Zeissianer" told me... Wink

I've been already looking for one and found it, one week ago, gently used Biogon, converted to 24mm and 6bit mount - you never know (M8?). Wink

Thank you Katastrofo, yes I am. Rolling Eyes

BTW re: 6bit coding
I could not see any advantage to 6 bit coding with 35mm FL or longer.
In a comparison with the Biogon 2/35 not coded and a new Summicron 6bit.
....,there was little difference to my eye.
The Biogon 2/35 lives the M8 and RD1 equally.
My 2.8/25 has a simple black sharpie coding.
When it wears off I will do a comparison before re-applying the coding marks.
If you like the RD1 you'll love the M8.
It's the difference like the Canon 350d vs the 5d2 if that makes sense.

Ok, good to know Andy, thank you.
Your comparison makes sense, but I'll stay with the RD1, until... Wink

I was always dreaming of the Epson, there is no urge, but it's good to be prepared Smile
