Any hands-on experience with this rangefinder lens?

I saw the pictures in Flickr and they look good. But I'd like to hear a personal experience report.

The price seems very good for such a fast lens.

Although I've not spent much time with it. I find it too large for practical use.
A friend in Vancuver has one and loves it on his M8.
To me a ZM Sonnar c 1.5/50 is more appealing.
Much more compact and nicer oof rendering and, only a bit slower.
Same price range also.

The 1.2/35 nokton although the same size is far more interesting and useful. Smile

(opinions)

yeah Smile
Only problem, I don't like much the rendering of the 1.2/35 Nokton from what I could see on Flickr
Of course, I admit flickr images can not always tell the truth (a lot depends on the quality of the photographers).

By the way, Andy, I agree about the nicer OOF of the C Sonnar. Smile
I am still waiting for my Amedeo adapter for Contax RF lenses, to mount the Opton on the M9 !

However, I must say that the Nokton 1.1 is not only slightly faster, it's more than 1,5 stops faster (f1,1 is one and half stop faster of a f1.4).
In the night, 1.5 stops really makes the difference between a photo made and no photo...

Well, if I would look for experiences with a rangefinder lens, I would consult
www.rangefinderforum.com, there is lots about it to find...(Andy is also a member there)

For the price it's a damn good lens. Mine handled well, I don't mind heavy things even on the RF so weight didn't bother me.
It's sharp even wide open, basically it preformed as an all rounder for me, from daylight to night time shooting.
Rendering wise... well its 'Bokeh' isn't the most pleasant (you'd be better off with a ZM Sonnar if you're after Bokeh)
Nonetheless it's an extremely good lens (more so if you follow the 1 Body, 1 Lens idea). That said I've only had experience with it on film.

I don't think so. Because 1.4/√2 = 1 (even a little bit less), so 1.1 is less than a full stop faster than 1.4. May be it can be important anyhow, but don't exaggerate the advantage.
