Yep Bruce, that's the one - mine has the 'Nippon Kogaku' name inscribed on the beauty ring.

@rino

Apologies are not necessary - I do not take it personally and the view is one I have seen before and elsewhere. We all "see" differently inasmuch as our memories tend to vary. Frankly I try to PP so that there is no immediate difference noticeable to my eyes between my Canon and my Nikon - but someone else may well be able to identify the differences. My nikon preference is also much driven by the fact that I am most used to them. Recently I have adopted a much wider variety of "favourite"lenses Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I had a Noink Pre AI 50mm S,C back in the summer. I compared it against the Takumar and it failed to impress so it was back on the fray within hours. There wasn't anything actually wrong with it, but just nothing special.

Maybe that was the wrong Nikkor to try, or maybe I missed the point.

WOW!

I find this very hard to believe. I find my Fujinon 1.4 to be better than the Tak 1.4 and my Nikkor S 1.4 is better than both.

The Nikkor S is perhaps one of the better performers wide open that I have used, not to say that the other stops dont perform amazingly.

I used to have the AIS version of this lens and it was amazing sharp. Surely one of the best 50mm lenses that I ever used.

Frankly it's a difficult choice for me between the Planar and the Nikkor - but the Planar goes on the Canon and the Nikkor on the Nikon Shocked Shocked

Both are incredible
