Hi,

normally I don´t like comparisons between 2 lenses because each one has its own characteristic.

This morning I have taken some shots on my "test field" which is our old graveyard nearby to see how the teleconverter TC 201 performs with these 2 lenses. The old stones etc. are a perfect subject to check sharpness, rendering, 3D, etc.

Both lenses will work with the converter but the 180 ED is better, maybe due to the ED glass in it. 3D effect is more visible.

Below the samples for the members with interest to buy such converter too.

I have forgotten, all shots wide open at ISO 1600 handhelded with Nikon D700

For what is my personal concept of 3D in photos, I find it more in the photos of the 105mm than in the photos of the 180mm.

Indeed. After a longer time not viewing the pics I think too that the 105mm is not bad. Especially in # 3.

Nice pics Rolf,
I have the 180mm & also a 105mm f2.5 AIS & was thinking about getting one of these TC-200/201's. Do you happen to know if they would work on a D80 & D40? I mean would they mount OK without breaking/bending any lugs?
