Sorry about the text spelling in the title but I ran out of characters. Crying or Very sad

I bought a Sony A3000 'cos it was cheap and I wanted an adaptable camera, but searching through the forum for info on various adapters was exploding my brain. Ideally, I will eventually should have adapters for all my MF lenses, but what to go for first? I suspect M42-Nex because I have more of these than any other system, so can someone please recommend a seller/product?

I also have Nikon AIS, Olympus OM, Fuji X and Minolta MD lenses. Are any of these problematic for adapting with no modification. Would I be able to use all apertures because it would seem only M42 have the A/M switch?

I am sure these questions have been asked before, but I couldn't find the answers very easily.

I have been shooting film almost exclusively for a few years now and am now worried about the continuity of the local Dev and scan service I rely on - hence my step into the digital world.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Skida,

most cheap adapters from China will do.
I liked the M42, OM and Nikon adapters from Big-IS, and the one for Minolta MD from adplo, as i also had listed in this thread: http://forum.mflenses.com/nex-adapter-recommendations-t42622.html

adapters generally push a lever of the lens to make aperture work, no mods needed.

sorry, don't know about Fuji X adapters

Jack the Hat Photography based in Cumbria has a few adapters on his site, and he's cheap enough and very quick. I generally get stuff from him in about 2 - 3 days.

He generally has Photodiox or Pixco adapters, both are fine.

I like to support a good UK trader, even if he is selling Chinese adapters. Wink

for X-Fujinon to NEX only the KIWI adapter exist at the moment:

with the new version you should be able to use all apertures without modify a lens.

Thanks for the prompt replies, folks. David - I like the idea of buying adapters at a higher price from a UK company and those prices aren't so whacky!

I remember, when I first joined up here, reading good stuff about BIG IS, but viewing their ebay page seems to indicate they are not doing much in the way of adapters now, so having a local source seems to be a good thing.

Jack the Hat is also a keen, and rather good, photographer as well. He had a good presence on flickr, but I no longer use flickr so I've lost touch with a lot of good contacts there. It's nice to see someone selling camera gear that knows what they're selling.

I have ordered the M42-Nex adapter from Jack the Hat, and now looking forward to some clement weather.

i've also recently joined the adapters-hunt, and jack-the-hat has always shipped fast

funny how u get a feel for a good supplier without real comms ..

tho i'm tending to search out the occasional better quality adapter for my favorite lenses, when they come up 'used'

the cheaper ones do usually work fine

mostly

I have bought all my NEX adapters from big_is and they are all fine.

They include M42, Minolta, Konica, Canon FD, Olympus, Exakta, T2 and Canon EF.

I've just ordered one from Jack so we'll see. I can vouch for big is from previous experience.
