Apparently, the Valdai factory has been commissioned at some point to build lenses for M42 SLRs. They made a few prototypes, like the 50/2 and the 20/2.8 but the lenses never went into mass production.
Cheers!

Funny story about the 550$ price tag. If you search and then use google translate, here someone tells a story he found this lens new in a shop in Russia (certificate with a wrong lens number), and in 2011 it costed 1300 roubles, which is... 16,50 euros according to online currency converter.
Agree with Abbazz, it must be a Zenitar experimental set (not a prototype indeed). A bit overpriced.
Here is said it was produced only in 1997, so not really a Soviet lens. And here people discuss it, in a semi-comprehensible way if google-traslated. |

Looks like it's an attempt of Jupiter plant to create their own "mark", like KMZ did with Zenitar and Arsenal with Arsat. I see another Jupiter-Super-M, but 20mm/2.8. It's only rebadge lens, here I guess Helios-44M7. _________________ Pierre
