A Marep 200 - never heard of it before and if this is typical, I never want to again.

Laughing Laughing

Why don't you call yourself "Irish Arsenal" and sell it as a special effect lens for a looooot of money? Wink

Some lenses, which are based on true Sonnar desing, produce similar "effect" with my Sigma SD14 when I use then with extension ring. No problem without extension ring Smile

Tamron AF 75-300 cheapo. I thought there was a dim yellow light inside all the time.

2 crappy units were broken almost instantly and a third one i sold without never opening the parcel.

The only worthy fate of a very nasty Seikor 80-205 macro zoom.

I've also got an even nastier Galaxy 35mm thing that's too small to make anything useful with. Laughing

I'm surprised at this one. Which maker?

Probably the Sigma 10-20 autofocus: worst corner image quality that I ever met.

Heh, that's actually my most frequently used lens on digital, often even the only lens I've packed along on a trip. Best lens I've ever bought new, even though I agree about the corner quality (solution: don't look too closely, stop down to f/11! =).

+1

Also, at 12mm distortion is literally gone. It distorts quite a bit above and below 12mm, though.

My worst lens.... well, probably Revuenon Special 35mm/2.8. I also was everything else but convinced of my Meyer Telemegor 300mm/4, I was glad I could get rid of it again.

Haha, nice thread!

My worst lens was a Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55mm F3,5-5,6. It was supplied with my D50, and I really hated it. Lots of distortions, ugly smeary corners, disgusting colours. An awful crap lens.

My most disappointing MF lenses was a 17mm RMC Tokina F3,5. It jsut didn't get really sharp, and the Bokeh was like mashed potatoes.

Ignoring lenses that were fungus hotels or had been damaged before I got them...

...one lens stands out. Sometime back I bought a Nikon FM10, which came as a package with a 35-70/3.5-4.8 and a 70-210/4.5-5.6 manual focus lenses that were branded "Zoom Nikkor".

The 35-70 wasn't good. Besides being very slow, it was soft until stopped down to f/8 or more, then it was still soft in the corners. It was made of plastic, but not the plastic of modern, high-end AF lenses: it was cheap, toy plastic.

But the 70-210 was worse. Not only did it have many of the same issues as the 35-70, plus some of its own, but it was a sliding zoom that often jammed at 210mm.

The camera and both lenses were made by Cosina. I'd hope those lenses were the worst products they ever made, but somehow, I doubt it.

It was made by Komine and was my biggest disappointment. I paid over 200usd and i later replaced it by the much better zuiko 2/24

Check my post about deteriorating elements: http://forum.mflenses.com/vivitar-kiron-2-24mm-be-careful-t29844.html

I bet you had similar problems. Good sample makes good photos Smile.
