(this is actually the other Point Lobos in San Francisco, but I'll include it as we stopped on the way down to Monterey).

That's a lovely series so thanks for sharing them with us. I was just thinking that if those seals were on a certain beach in Lincolnshire the seals would be surrounded - and hassled - by some very determined "wildlife photographers" more preoccupied with getting a result than enjoying the wiildlife and giving it plenty of space. As it is these animals look very relaxed. _________________ I used to think digital was fun but then I discovered film, then I found old lenses and then, eventually I found rangefinders.

Tikkathree - I've always wanted to visit Donna Nook, but it's incredibly sad if photographers aren't keeping their distance and are disturbing the animals The sea lions here, in contrast, were very happily resting in noisy public places (piers mostly!). THey are a very noisy bunch! We were extremely lucky to get close to the young elephant seal as we were reporting back information to the park rangers. _________________ Graham - Moderator

Bay Area is pretty photogenic. Did you make it into the city at all to shoot the buildings and historic trolleys, etc.?
Also, your lizard is a Western Fence Lizard. Pretty common and typically not overly human-skittish. Nifty looking lizards, too.
I also really like the sea lion shots. It looks like those were taken on a fairly overcast day, which can be tricky with as much light as Bay Area fog takes away. A very nice collection of good photos, as always. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/hancockDavidM |

David, the bay area is indeed beautiful. Unfortunately we were only in Monterey for a couple of days, so no street shots I hope to go back one day though. You were absolutely right about the weather...it was foggy the whole time _________________ Graham - Moderator

FYI the elephant seals are well protected when they are in town, but a bull is too big to run any risks .
