Making a photo in that church was REALLY hard... only candlelights... I wished I had Kubrick's f/0.75 Planar... Laughing

Wow! Is all I can say, especially #2!

In number two I was able to "steal" half stop and shoot at f/1.8
it did not really change the DOF but it improved the clarity a bit.
Perhaps if I apply a slight sharpening limited to the area of the candlelights in the first picture, I might be able to mimick that same aperture also in shot #1... I'll give it a try.

I am considering one of these two pics for the contest also... but the final decision will come after I have shot more images.
You would prefer #2 for the contest?

I think so. I like how the light caught on the top of the prayer benches(?)
and some of the faces are more exposed to the light, makes it a more
interesting comp than #1.

Very nice images. One of my favorite things to try is very low level light. You have done a great job here. At these light levels, one can only use good judgement and allow the hardware to do its job. Post processing, IMOHO, usually ruins the effect.

I also prefer No.1.
The bench in No.2 bars the view for me a little too much.

But, if I may, I would suggest another crop in No.1.
Leave out the table on the right completely.

I like these very much. At first I didn't see the monks, I kept staring at the candles Laughing
