This morning at dawn I went to the hills to make some photos before I started to work.
Now I reviewed them and I have to say that I am impressed by the performance of the MIR-1 (the Brussels version of the lens, with aluminium finish).
Amazingly sharp, and a bokeh to kill for.
Later I will post some pictures. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Mine is M42 aluminium finish, the "Brussels edition" (it's one of those that got the Brussels award engraved on the barrel)
It is really, like new.
Later I will post the pictures. I think that it is my most beautiful lens of all (aestheticallly speaking). _________________ Orio, Administrator

I have the black 1B version, it is very nice but I am curios to see how the Brussels version performs in comparison.
I have the Mir 20 35mm f2 on the way (kind of rare m42 mount), which is faster and allows much closer focus so I am not sure if there is a point in getting the Brussels version though, what do you think Orio? |
Ok, as far as my experience goes, my MIR-1 aluminium Brussels version performs significantly better than my MIR-1V black version. But of course, I can not exclude to have gotten a bad copy of the 1V (or a fantastic copy of the 1) _________________ Orio, Administrator

Well, my (black) MIR-1B is an excellent lens. If the alu-version is even better, it must be an exceptional piece of glass! _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

It seems all Alu version are same. M42 Alu version has " Brussels" engraved. That may be part of ex-Soviet bunch show cased at that time providing advancement in that world in consumer world.
M39 and M42 Alu version "MIR-1" are same preset lenses...
I was surprised by the quality of my lens. It doesn't go to infinity (common problem with M39 mount silver lenses). I filed on of my adapter, now its perfect...
Looking forward for the results...
Seems like time to take my MIR out for the fall colors... _________________ -Ballu
