Nice photos Moira, I think they could use a little contrast boot-up though.

+1 almost any shoot of you require it, -0,7 under expose also can help a lot.

Sadly I'd have to agree. Nice scene though.

hi Mo, just an example:

your original:

Of course if I could use a raw file instead of a jpg I could have avoided some side effects such as highlight burning.
It's not a difficult edit, you need to adjust curves for the different lighting areas (a bit s shape) and control saturation as well for the separate colours.
The main concept is to make the different colours look different, instead of having them all look a bit brownish.
This gives freshness to the image.

Thank you Orio, there is a huge difference between the two images.

I have used it for portraits, but not enough to have any decent images to post Embarassed

That waterfall has me thinking of a spot towards the Blue Mountains just behind Goulburn and close to the Wombeyan Caves. Neat pics Moira.

Make sure you use a good hood with this lens.

It's a good lens; number three among mine at that length. I think you'll find the portraits a better use of the lens - or other subjects where you can include some amount of background blur, thus appreciating the bokeh.
