Thanks Patrick, it's a lens with a lot of character. It's not perfect (it has some CA, and it's not the sharpest I have), but it renders fantastic colours with great saturation and contrast.
Flare is non-existent, the T* coating is always a guarantee but tele lenses are always difficult beasts for flare, and this lens has zero loss of contrast,
whereas I can't say the same for the 2.8/180 Sonnar wide open.
Finally, it is super compact, and for the traveling photographer, it's very sweet - a 200mm prime of the approx. size and weight of a 135mm.
When I take this lens, I know that I will give up something in terms of definition, but I know that I will get true "butt-kicking" images when colours are concerned.
Surely a lens to consider when colours are important, and I can't wait to try it with slides, where you can't boost any saturation slider - I haven't done that yet.

I agree about the lens. But the photographer is the REAL professional. Orio, your photography has become
one of my favorite places to go on the forum.

The first picture actually seems to be in motion. Shocked Gorgeous.

Beautiful set, really like 2,4,5, and 6 for the faves. If only you had used a decent lens... Laughing Wink

+1 That first shot is especially well done with the movement in the sea, the splash of colour in the hut and the threat from the clouds. Marvelous!

I know what you mean. If Orio would just bite the bullet and get a DECENT lens, it would serve him well. Laughing

In fact Orio, send it to Bill or me and we will offload it for you. No sense walking around with such crap. Of course,
just trying to do you a favor. Right? Cool
