@ rawhead

Wow, I went on top of the Prudential in 1980!. Your pictures have made me remind that stay in Boston, thanks a lot!. I loved the Boston common, near to the river, the colourful chinese quarter, the wooden houses...
A city with plenty of photographic opportunities.
Thanks for sharing!.

Jes.

Sorry I have not posted a picture - but Beaverton's 'Town Center Square' consists of a shatteringly uninspiring collection of big brand stores like Best But and Rite Aid Pharmacy (that look like every other of their big brand stores) with a collection of trash cans and parking in the center.. and I have no desire to ruin anyones Christmas dinner with the sight of that! Sad

Aha, you have returned... Smile

Yep I have a gaudy waste of space 'square' too... like most post-1970s urban sprawls where character was the last thing on the planners' minds... they were far more worried about making obese shoppers have to walk a few hundred feet, so parking was their prority!

Orio, I don't what to say, except to repeat the word "stunning". In fact, it
looks like many of the European posters probably live in these wonderful,
historic areas. I'm afraid that my home town here looks like some kind of
"Toy Story" in comparison, with gaudy storefronts and the usual urban
sprawl. There is a "sort of" town square though, and I'll go get an image
of it.

This image is bathed in irony by the way. Cool

Is this a London summer shot ? Cool

It's just north of London, in Hertfordshire. Smile

I must be thick -- I'm still trying to figure out the irony that photo is bathed in. Is it because, as Olivier mentioned, it was taken during the summer? Looks to be some sort of car meet -- or car/motorcycle meet. I spot an MGB and a Harley Big Twin. Don't have a clue as to what the green car in the sort of foreground is.

Anyway, here's a couple shots of Houston -- skyline first, then the Metro Rail, which travels down Houston's Main Street.

Could be a similar model as in this old shot of my car...Ford Corsair GT:-

Huh, that's gotta be it. Looks like it was influenced by the Ford Thunderbird styling of the early 60s.

Very Happy I wouldn't have expected anyone to have understood, unless they lived there.

The town centre is almost always deserted, void of life. The high street has been pedestrianised for years, and as such cars are not usually allowed. And 'Grayt Expectations', a nice little antique furniture shop, was recently closed down, the name is ironic in itself.

I think this is one of the most interesting threads in the forum and I am happy to have started it!

Is the "Singer" shop selling sewing machines ?

I wondered also, looking at your wide picture which lens did you use and is it a fisheye ?

Thank you Iaza. Smile
Looking at your signature, I just noticed the Flek 2.8/20 as wide lens but I didn't think it was shot with it.

Man, I should change my signature, I just sold that flek last week.I sold my Tokina 17/3,5 too before, I like zenitar more.specially in EF mount

This Zenitar is very good, especially on a full frame wher the fisheye effect fully appears.
