Differently from Photoshop, Adobe made it also available as "old fashioned" permanent license (both full and upgrade).

I took advantage of the V4 sale (They always eke out the last remaining revenue from the old version) and appreciate it very much. _________________ -Jussi

First impressions:
- significantly faster than v4 in opening files and in switching modules
- the added features are very few compared to v4. Some of them useful, the most of them not really needed
Unless you are on a slow computer such as mine, in which case you will surely appreciate the faster version 5,
I would say for now that this update can be easily skipped.
If I can find more and usefulk new features, so that my opinion changes, I will let you know. _________________ Orio, Administrator

I just use Windows.
I use it for cropping mostly and to view my images, but they do have some basic functions like noise reduction, straightening and exposure tweaking.
I was thinking that I need to buy this software but have since changed my views. I'm trying to avoid editing completely. I pretty much just shoot JPEG and apart from cropping, I just use whatever comes out of the camera. _________________ Minolta MC Rokkor f1.4 50mm
