Does anyone know if it's reputed better or worse than the Summicron-R 50 f/2 ?

Hi!

What I learned from sellers at camera shows, the performance of either is great. It's mainly the max. aperture (and thus the price) that is different.

Thanks Carsten.
I asked because I may be able to get a Summilux for a low price (low for Leica standard, that is).
But since I have noticed much performance difference from my Zeiss 50mms (the 1.7 being sharper, the 1.4 having a much better bokeh and saturation), I was wondering if there could be difference in the Leica 50mms too. And sometimes it's true that the faster lenses are not always the better ones.

The one thing I am not super happy about the Elmarit 35mm that I bought is the bokeh. It's a bit harsh and not even near the quality of a Mir or Zeiss. But I guess this is the price you pay for the extra clarity of image that the Elmarit delivers and that the other lenses simply do not.
