Man these are nice first time out results again Shocked Orio I think your J8 is a super winner at least based off of these samples.

It seems excellent, have you seen the corner detail one?

It will be very interesting to see the some color results.

Yap. It's going to be the next step. I started with B&W because I was afraid to be let down by a bad colour result. Now I know that in any case I will keep using it for B&W Very Happy

How do you like shooting the Kiev?

I love it!
The rangefinder is bright and contrasty. It is better than the one of my Zeiss Super Ikonta 6x6.
I love advancing film with the wheel!! Same as in Praktica FX.
ALso loading the film is not as a headache as I first feared. Surely it's not a lighting fast operation, but it's reasonably timed.
But what I love the most, is to feel that heavy metal machinery in my hand! And the leather fitting case. No plasticky digital rangefinder will EVER give me that!! Very Happy

Well... the positive side of this, it's going to be certainly a cheaper caprice than a Makro-Planar! Wink

Yes, indeed, much cheaper than the Makro-Planar, will look for one offered
with the Jupiter 8! Wink

Attila if you want these for your site you can take them all... you will have a nice mix of small images and full crops.
I will take a pic of the lens also.

5-9 the uncropped ones, have little to no discernible grain! Shocked Are
you using just the OEM software?

I am just using the Epson interface. No ice, no grain reduction, no Ninja Noise... no nothing.
Agfa 100 is a good film. The tones are natural and the grain is not intrusive.

What is the OEM software?

Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) this being just the Epson Twain
driver software. Interesting, your scanning workflow...

If you knew what OEM means, sorry for being pedantic.

Well, I really have no workflow of my own... as always, I try to keep the software intervention to a minimum - the minimum necessary to bring the image home. You know that's my philosophy Wink
So I just cut all bells and whistles (Ice, grain reduction, heavy curves etc) and I only set the white and black points and the minimum necessary sharpness.
I don't think it could be simpler than that Rolling Eyes

No, I didn't know that, thanks for the explanation Smile

The only suggestion that I feel like giving is, when you are in the level window, to adjust the black and white points, leave the central gamma control alone. For me, it does only bad to my scanned images.

Good to remember about the gamma control. I wonder how this does when
scanning color negs.

Well, Orio, you convinced me the Kiev 4 is a worthwhile enterprise:

Great deal Bill. It is identical to mine under all respects. I am sure you will love it. Isn't it a great piece of machinery? You will see how great it feels in the hands. It feels like handling a part of the submarine of Capt. Nemo or something.

Now, if you have the patience to wait while I fix my financial situation, in some months from now I will let you know what will be your next camera (since whatever camera I buy, you buy it also soon thereafter) Laughing Wink

Orio, I was hoping you would feel that it was just a coincidence that I'm
buying the same cameras! Laughing
