I've come across a camera which is meant to be made in East Germany with a Tessar "red T" lens built into it, which I thought was a West German marking. Am I just wrong, or is this an oddity? The lens date appears to be 1949.

It's normal Paul, the red T was the coating symbol for all Zeiss lenses (East and West), until West Zeiss adopted the T* and East Zeiss changed to "MC".
