Hi!
Here some pictures from a ice skating race (it's call "Venetietocht" and it's about 55km race) in natural environment close to my home. It was the first time that I saw it and I must say that I founded it really impressive! Here in The Netherlands, when the lakes, rivers and canal are frozen, everyone (or almost) are wearing the ice skates and a lot of "races" are organized for the happiness of everyone, young and oldest....
Here is thus a selection from the pictures I made this day, on the link bellow can you see some more pictures if you wish:

then it's verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry cold .....
no, it is realy safe of course, the race is organized at the only condition that the ice is sufficiently thick, I think it must be minimum 15cm deep .... _________________ All my lenses are for sale, nikkor, Angenieux, Zeiss etc.....

People let cars on ice when it's at least 30cm thick. People shouldn't be a problem from 15cm
Awesome photos by the way. |

I think it shouldn't be a problem with "only" 10 cm but that's the rule and I can understand that the peoples who organised the race don't want to take any risk ..... _________________ All my lenses are for sale, nikkor, Angenieux, Zeiss etc.....

Obviously these are great lenses, but you really maximized their performances. Focus and exposure are spot on. Beautifully done. @ Himself: what can I say about this lens, well it's a beautiful piece of glass, not too heavy for a 4/500mm (about 3 Kg I guess), sharp wide open, almost no CA, and really well balanced so quite easy to shoot without tripod in good light condition....and about the price, well it's not what we can call a cheap lens (price average is between 1400 and 2000€ depending of the condition and if accessory are included or not, like lens case, etc)...but this lens is also a kind of investment, the price will probably not decreased in the coming years.... _________________ All my lenses are for sale, nikkor, Angenieux, Zeiss etc.....
