The GOOD and the BAD news:

Seller described this Praktica as in 'excellent' shape.. The battery compartment was almost welded shut with green leaked electrolyte and I guess this had caused the shutter not to fire, so he or she decided to force the wind lever until it did...

What a shame really, why don't you pack it together, body and lens and I will fix it and return it (the body) back to you? Twisted Evil

What a kind offer. I am overwhelmed by your generosity.. you are welcome to do as you suggest, just pop over to Oregon and pick it up personally.. now where did I leave my nail-studded club?...lol

Shocked Looks pretty bad indeed, never mind lens is excellent and if you miss practica body I able to send you a tested working one for free, but overseas shipping cost (~25 USD) perhaps kill the fun.

That's very kind of you! I wanted the body as it ws the VLC with the removable prism and I had the waist level and the magnifier versions already but no VLC body. I have just found my 'lost' Exacta RTL which of course can accept these.. I also have a couple of Pentacon Electric bodies and a few Praktica Super TL's too! Oh and two Revues and..

It's a kind offer though so thank you Smile

Doug

PS I have a lot of Praktica bodies but did not realise how many 50mm primes I had.. see my other posting..

I have FAR too much gear!

VLC not a problem I think I check it out my bodies, VLC require DIY made battery pack.

I discovered someone in Portland Oregon who sells a compatible battery.. amazing! It's the same as those in the Pentacon Electrics..

Two years ago I asked the Praktica factory; they delivered an adapter for alkaline battery (for free, too much hassle to send an invoice!). But the camera even works with a reloadable AA battery, without any adapter as some other forum member from France told me (unbelievable but it really works!).

You are TOO kind Obi-Wan!

Also tell me how much to send as postage, and how to send it (Paypal maybe?)
