Full moon capture

Last night, had full moon and lunar eclipse... Was not able to wake up early morning to capture eclipse, but able to get a full moon shot...

Captured with Tamron SP 60-300mm @300mm and Tamron SP BBAR 2x tele-converter @~f20 (with 2x impact).

Some WB correction (or change) and some sharpening after conversion from RAW to TIFF...

The final pic is cropped about 10% from left side. The reason I chose this composition, fits perfect on my laptop screen as wall paper.... Wink

I fond a trick for lumar photography, atleast worked for me... Capture with Moon metering... and underexpose the the pic by half stop in RAW work flow. As Moon space is really reflective and dark around.. you will get little bit overexposed or flat pic. Underexposing will pull the texture/surface depth out.
After that I stretched the dynamic range (dark side to full and bright side to almost 75-80%) with Picture Window pro. This helped in overexposing the points...

but I think this will work with full moon...

Thank you for sharing technical details, today I went to the Fort of Budapest to walk. There was a full moon I really missed my camera.

I try to limit my AF image posts what with this being primarily a MF lens forum.

Agreed on the metering though.

I have a Kodachrome 25 slide of the full moon I shot back in the late 80's using a Praktica BC-1 + 2 2X convertors + Super Paragon 8/500.

I got an 8" x 10" print made from the slide and was pleasantly surprised when it came back as it wasn't as bad as I expected.

You can send here MANY PHOTOS taken with AF lenses , no problem at all. Good photo is good photo, crap is crap , I suppose nobody will ask you why AF.

Thanks for that Attila - I didn't want to perhaps overstep the mark by posting images shot with AF lenses and thereby breaking the ethos of mflenses.com.

Maybe we should let Ballu have his thread back now... Laughing

Actually Ballu, I used K25 along with Ektar 25 almost exclusively up until Kodak discontinued them so as a result have plenty of material for scanning.

Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner...... Crying or Very sad
