If you can get a good copy Wink Mine was thrashed by a Nikon 20/4 AI.

+1 some of them just good average, I bought and sold I guess 10-15 copies I found 2-3 of them what wasn't stunning like others.
Also true Nikon 20mm lenses are awesome I rate higher them than Fleks.

I think those that seem average or worse are most likely just incorrectly put back together after being opened. In my experience, it is very easy to rebuild the Flektogon in a way that it looks, feels and even sounds right, yet the image quality is not there. But when it is correctly assembled, it is indeed a superior performer.

Very possible what Anu say I agree.

Well, I have it here now and it seems to be a good one. At least the sharpness is there, wide open, even in the corners. But I'll wait with my final verdict until tomorrow, in good light Smile

If you have sharpness wide open you are lucky to have a very good copy! Congrats ! Mine is tack sharp from 8

I would say that it is normal for this lens to be sharp wide open. I rarely close it unless I need more DOF. If you lens needs to be closed to f/8 you should open your lens and fix it as it is not normal for this lens to stink Wink . Seriously, there is something wrong if most of the image is not very sharp wide open, and most likely it is fixable. If I only remembered which part to adjust and had the photos to show, I'd give some advise - there was a small screw I think, one could remove and then rotate something, but I doubt this helps much Sad

Yes, but don't practice on Flektos. You might get experience but loose lovely lens. Cleaning is one thing but if your lens behaves strangely it will be much harder to find where the problem lies.
