It seems the cam it's okay. To test, I've used the ISO 400 Schlecker cheap film (I didn't have any other ISO400 at hand, the day was dark and cloudy).

The lens is a Yashica ML 50mm f2.0, it's a great lens and does a perfect match to the Contax.

Some samples, (recall it was a dull cloudy day, cheap scan from the lab):

If you want to see more from this roll, please look at this album.

Regards.
Jes.

Ola Jesito,
another proud owner of 139Q here. It is just a pleasure to work with it...
Love the Yashica ML 50/2, both cam and lens are so compact.
Nice pics!
Gerd

I don't know why, but I'm liking film shots more and more, and yours are really nice.

Gerd, Attila and Ludoo:

Thanks for your kind comments, colleagues.
It's really nice to pick a dirty cam that is not fully working and let it useable, that's a rewarding experience!. Smile

And yes, shooting film is more satisfactory (for me) than shooting digital.

Regards.
Jes.

I agree, about shooting film is more rewarding than digital. I LOVE
that first image. The rough surface and faded out paint really show as
nice counterparts to the metal keys.

Great looking samples, Jes. You did a right move with this camera+lens

Thanks, Larry and Orio for your comments.
I've just gotten a Yashica ML 50mm 1.7 that I've to test. Some people compare it to the Planar, I'm not so sure...

Regards.
Jes.

Nice. I thought the 139 was rather "clunky" until I bought a couple of M42 mount SLR (Voigtlander VSL-1 and Porst Compact Reflex). Now I can appreciate the 139 is a really well made and elegant piece of gear.

I have a 139Q as well. Used it with a Sigma 50/2.8 macro and some red-scale film. Alas, my scanning setup is still not functioning Sad

That door photograph has some really nice colours - love it.

I'll second the comments regarding the first photo. I like it a lot too. All in all, very nice shots for an overcast day. Still decent color saturation from that film (that I've never heard of before).

Many years ago, I had an acquaintance who had a 139 Q. On one occasion he asked me to take a picture of him with his camera, so I did. What I remember most from the experience was advancing the film with its butter-smooth film wind crank. At the time I was using a Canon AE-1 and an A-1. They suddenly seemed like clunkers compared to that beautifully smooth Contax.

Thanks for your comment, Michael.
I like that film very much, but unfortunately Schlecker has stopped selling film at all.
The 139Q has given me the best film shooting experience so far, it's a wonderful camera. I've just gotten the Yashica 50mm f/1.7 to improve a bit over the 2.0, this weekend I'll be trying it.

Regards.
Jes.

I like both cameras.

Really, like all the cantax cams, and the A-1 is a dream in canon FD mount. The same about the F-1 and F-1n.
