SOLD!!!
I offer a Rollei HFT Rolleinar 2.8/28 in EOS rebuilt (not just adapted, the EOS mount is fixed).
I can get infinity with my 5D but only just! (I cannot guarantee that it will also work on other fullframe EOS cams!)
On an APS-EOS it's a fantastic "normal" lens.
It's an amazing lens, but I need to gather some money for a new project.
This Rolleinar is like mint (apart from the adaptation), fully working and comes in the orinial box and with a fitting Voigtländer front lens cap.
The original mount was Rollei QBM.
Due to its very rare status and excellent condition, I'd like to ask for
€ 80,- (incl. the rebuilt mount, which alone is worth about €40,-) plus shipping and (if needed) PayPal. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Whoa it's hard to find info about this lens. Was this made by Zeiss? I'm guessing it is since it's termed 'HFT' but I can't be sure. |

I don't think that it was built by Zeiss. But they had a cooperation regarding technology AFAIK. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

see here:

The Rolleinar line of lenses was released to complement the original Zeiss/Rollei line after Zeiss pretty much stopped producing lenses in Germany (except for the most difficult models) and moved the large part of production to Kyoto, in Japan.
Most Rolleinar lenses were also built in Japan, at the Mamiya factory, but a small part was also Germany made, most certainly in Rollei's facility in Braunschweig.
It is very easy to tell when a lens is made by Carl Zeiss: it bears the "Carl Zeiss" writing. When it does not bear the Carl Zeiss writing, but it's a Carl Zeiss design, it means that the lens was licensed for production to another company. A typical example are the Rollei lenses that bear Zeiss model names (such as "Planar") but not the Zeiss brand. Those were designs licensed to Rollei and produced by Rollei in their facilities (either in Germany, or somewhere else like Singapore).
To get back to the Rolleinar 28mm, it is not a Zeiss Distagon 2.8/28. The number of elements and groups is the same, but the design is different, as you can see by comparing the drawing reported by the link above with the Woelche's Distagon drawing.
HFT is indeed a Zeiss industrial technology. It is in fact derived from the T* coating technology, but -according to some sources- somehow simplified in accordance to Rollei's necessity of keeping the costs moderate. In most practical uses, it is my experience that there is very little, if none, difference with the T* performance, at least on Zeiss-made lenses.
The Rolleinar line of lenses was also released with the Voigtlaender brand, since at the time Rollei had purchased the Voigtlaender brand from Zeiss. For a short period of time, Rollei and Voigtlaender were on the market both with a camera with the same bayonet mount, and a very similar line of lenses.
Although not Zeiss, the Rolleinar lenses have a good reputation amongst the Rollei users. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Is this 2.8/28 a 7/8 design? If so I think it will be the same as the Mamiya 2.8/28, I have the the SX version and it's a great lens, equal to my beloved 3.5/28 EE Hexanon imho. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |
