I bought a 1250 Photo Scanner at a thrift shop today for $2.
If anyone is using this scanner, please let me know what you think of it.
I played around with it a little, and it looks like it's good enough I can finally post some pictures. Very Happy

Here is one scan of a photo. Either it dosen't scan true to color or my LCD display needs calibrating.
Please describe the flower color and background color you see.
Thanks Walter

I see flowers of orangish yellow colour
dark greens of rather balanced hue
background stuff shows some magenta cast
I do not see image artifacts, but difficult to spot them at this size anyway.

Yea, that's what I was afraid of. The magneta cast shouldn't be there.
But this one seems to have scanned closer to the original picture.

In your first shot, it can be adjusted in Photoshop.....e.g. the daffs can be changed from yellow-orange to yellow by changing "hue". The 2nd shot it quite good, but both shots, as expected, are not very sharp.

I don't have Photo Shop. But this is the same scan as before with Sharpen applied. Probably to much. Laughing

Well if you are scanning a 6X8" print I don't think you can improve on it any more....for a wow try and get a sharp medium format 8X10 print and scan that.

Same scan adjusted in Gimp. So much more control, and adjustability.
I need to learn to use it properly. Practice, practice, practice.
I think it's over adjusted but it was fun to see what the software would do.

Nice flower shot, Walt. Here's running it thru Bibble and doing a few things
in PS:

Walter, what's the max resolution of this scanner. If possible, try setting the resolution to create a file about 20MB and then downsize it with your software for posting here.

Katastrofo,
Thanks. Your running it thru Bibble came out pretty accurate to the original print. This is my first photo scanner so I have alot to learn.
Never used software to do pp, so that's new to me to.

Peter,
I have no idea what the actual res. is.
This is listed in the instructions: Optical 1200, subscan, 2400, and
max interpoleted res is 9600. Confused Kinda confusing to me.

Epsons download of the instructions is missing the smartpanel instructions.
I pushed the file size up, and got this scan. I did a 24.6 mb scan, then I used sharpen and adjust colors.
If I get the right setup I think I can preset it. The scanner uses PNG to scan (24bit color), and my resizing program uses JPEG. So now I'm resizing in the scaning progran so I stay in PNG.

So I hope this is better.
This post was edited and the photo was reposted to the correct one in PNG.

That's much better, well done. Bright red is difficult to focus accurately, both for our eyes and for AF lenses, so it's not a good test. But look at the leaves! Very much better.
