Still working with the enlarging lenses from nikon because they are so well priced for the quality. This lens cost me $50 and has a small ding in the filter holder, but otherwise perfect. Another advantage of el-nikkors is that they are mainly on a M39 mount. This is mounted on a bellows:

Great cheap way to unusually good macro capability IMHO

m39? Are they still Nikon registration? Maybe my m39-42 to eos would work for macro?

oops nvm... I see I need a nikon to leica m39 adapter. My current 39 is Zenit

yes great shoots

Bruce - no, the enlarging lenses will need to be used via a bellows or focusing helix for camera work unless you're happy to work at just one distance! The thread is the same as your Zenit m39 though. As Patrickh's pictures show, they do make great macro lenses.

Nice ones!! Indeed, these EL-Nikkor enlarger lenses make great macro lenses, as well as other brands. The Leica Focotars btw. are excellent as well as the Fujinons, the latter being mostly overlooked and dirt cheap to get.

Thank you all

Klaus
Thanks for the tip on the fujinons

poilu

I have the rodenstock 80/5.6 and the el-nikkors are at least as good. In fact I think the el-nikkor 50/2.8 may be one of the sharpest lenses I have ever had.
