I recently did a comparison of the Canon 85 1.2 II and the Cyclop 85 1.5. The results are surprising!!! Click on link to see.

Here is one comparison (it just so happens the subject in this picture is from Russia... lol)

Good old Cyclop is doing very well in your test Wink

The Cyclop has the same lens design as Helios 40-2. If you compear them under a strong light source, the reflection pattern is identical Very Happy

Some photo taken with cyclop 85mm 1.5

Don't know. Mine doesn't reach infinity either. The picture is very well done. Was that taken with a full frame camera?

In most pictures there's EXIF that shows the camera model, this one states NIKON D3100 which is APS-C.
(Can be looked up in for example photoshop -> File -> File Info -> Camera Data)

Without modification you can't due Nikon register distance is longer than M42 , but why would you like to shoot at f1.5 to infinity ?

Cyclop with custom aperture inserted v2.0 (F1.7?) and some histogram tweaking. NEX-C3.

Thanks. None of my Cyclops has problem reaching infinity. Nevertheless it's not hard to adjust it. I think it was already described on this forum. Otherwise i can make tutorial.

+1, nice shot, especialy the #1

About infinity, that's just with macro rings, no? I do like that with mine, and it works good (reach infiity)

My cyclop does not reach infinity either, but is not much of an issue. If I may offer an opinion, I do not see the Cyclop as a lens that will perform well at long distances. For one, the unique effects the lens is best known for will not be present and image quality will not be as good for a landscape shot as it would with just about any other lens with working aperture. When taking landscape shots, it is always better to stop down to a lens' best aperture unless forced by lighting conditions to shoot wide.

I do appreciate one wanting to have a lens focus properly even if rarely used at infinity, but for me it is little inconvenience when I use the lens only for closer distances where I can appreciate the bokeh effects. However, I did take a picture recently at infinity and that is how I learned that I was a little off.
