DPP can see the files fine And PS and Light room can open them but DXO optics and rawshooter no longer seem to be able to read the files any ideas?

Rawshooter does not have a 400D profile, the program was discontinued just before the release of the 400D.

Get Breezebrowser Pro, it's a fantastic program with the best IQ for Canon EOS CR2s (as it uses the original Canon SDK).
I have Lightroom and CS2 Camera Raw but Breezebrowser makes much better files with perfect colour profile (Adobe programs are still unable after all these years to make the Canon reds right).

thanks, why did they stop rawshooter? that was some great software! I will give Breezebrowser a go.

Adobe bought it, with the intent to kill it, because for the features and price, it would have killed the launch of Lightroom.

Micros***t and Adobe have done this several times with great products (does anyone remember Foxpro?). They then appear in court and blithely claim they are defenders of the market's ability to encourage originality and improvement! Hah - except where it might compete with them and cause them to lose a dollar. Greed knows no bounds and has no moral compass.

Adobe killed off (bought out) a great little program I used for editing WAV files - Cool Edit Pro. Then they immediately launched it again as Adobe Audition ver 1.0, which I had to buy when I upgraded the PC. When you press F1 for help, would you believe, all the documentation is still headed "Cool Edit Pro"!
