No, I didn't buy one. Just posted a few samples with this almost forgotten old camera

It would have been nice to have also this brand still on the market. More competitors, better prices (maybe better quality). Same for the Kodak and Fuji (which seems to stick with compact cameras only, at least for this year, no Pro5 replacement).

Look at the IQ !!!!

The big bummer of this camera is that it does not mount the C/Y lenses Mad

I had no idea Contax made a DSLR! Is the "N" for Nikon mount?

No, it's for "Not care about compatibility" Evil or Very Mad

This brand of DSLR slipped by me, too! I am completely surprised that Contax made this DSLR!

Frankly, the images look GREAT!

We had a N1 film camera with a few lenses.
The interface on these cameras is exactly as a film cam.
Aperture ring, shutter speed dial, exposure comp.....etc. All have dedicated controls on the camera.
If you use a Rx, Ax or Aria you are ready to shoot an N-series. Zero learning curve for menus BS.
The N 1.4/50 Planar was exactly the MF version.
Michelles (she used it primarily) favorite lens was the 28-80 zoom as she loved the macro mode.
The manual focus was really good compared to most. It has full time manual over ride.
If Contax had stayed on the scene there is no doubt in my mind that I would have their DSLR (although not this model rather, a current one).
The lenses from the N system are pure Zeiss.
Many Canon users are spending $500-$800 having Contax N-series lenses converted to EF.
They are just that good.

I don't know man....for some reason this underdog, badly rated camera, appeals to me.

I see the reports about the noise at ISO400 and above, the rather cludgy RAW things, and other "inconveniences".

Heck though...I rarely shoot above the default ASA200 on the K110D!

But gosh, those images sure look good to my eyes. And ASA25! Wow!

Even the "dissing" about having to shoot the best output at 3 megapixels isn't that big of a deal.

I mean, how may enlargements do I make anyway from my digital? Only
one in the past year...! My big prints come from film.

If I was a rich guy, I would snap this up, even at $4995 on eBay.

It's just that sort of weird appeal, and I would LOVE to work with their version of chip with the FULL FRAME sensor!

But that's just me. Confused

Not at all. I completely understand and share your attitude!
OK, who is going to give such cam to Larry and me as a present??

Click here to see on Ebay

Well here is the entry N-series. This one was BIN for $199 but now has a bid.
Not digital but you can get a taste. And it is Full Frame after all Wink

Why would you do this to me? Surprised Very Happy

Here, I'm trying my darndest to get into a Contax G2, and you push something like this into the thread. Evil or Very Mad Razz

A SERIOULY loaded piece of equipment. I would assume the Zeiss zoom is as good quality wise as any?

Me first, of course! Very Happy

Carsten, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a propensity for these "forgotten" camera types.

Some results with converted Contax N Lens (yes, AF ones) but on a crop sensor camera

Looks to be somewhat above average in most testing. Looks to be fantastic for no vignetting.

Interesting for sure!
