thanks to all for your feedbacks Smile

unfortunately, my planar 1.5/85 had to go back to the seller Sad
've been using EOS system and CZ lenses for 5 months only.
I hadn't had a big experience with this system at that time I was shooting those pics.

My pics open wide -
cat taken after sunset -
interior pics - just lamp! 60Watts - look like pictures from 60's

Poilu's pics - this is real torrent of colors Smile light is one the first requirements of the nice pics. Nice day

thanks Laurence! it was only a lucky shot, I have a lot to learn

here are some portrait sample from January with the 400D
click here for portrait samples with 85 1.4
I would not be able to shot at 1.4 at this time,
now with the 40D & the EE-s it was a piece of cake even for walking or bicycle target
I miss very few shots, less than if I had used AF @ 1.4

Great shots, Poilu and Trifox.

I have never shot with lens over 60mm (not really true), since I am not so comfortable with tele-lens. I simply admire people with skill to use tele-lens almost same as musical player with any instrument. Rolling Eyes

and I on the other hand feel completly lost below 50mm, and I think tele lenses are a hoot to shoot with Laughing

What an amzingly fantastic and precious lens! Wow! I honestly am overwhelmed!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked

(And some attractive women in Greece, poilu!)

BTW, is the first one really wide open? From the DoF I would never have guessed...

I am sure one day you will get it, or even the newer Zeiss model

In my previous comparison with the Jup9 @5.6, the difference was not very big
test jupiter-9 against canon 85 1.8 AF
This lens shine at 1.4 but do you know anybody who shot a 85mm @ 1.4 ?

That's another myth about DOF and long focal
The DOF is the same as my distagon 35 @1.4 or my planar 50 @1.4
But do you know anybody who use a 85mm as a 35mm ?
push here to read about DOF myth

Beautiful Poilu.

This IS THE LENS. Even when you don't shoot it, it is still fun just to look at. I showed the girls (ladies) here the fountain shot with the children. Now they all want to meet that sensitive photographer with the eye for such moments. Rolling Eyes I should be so lucky Laughing

Judging by the hairstyle and necklace, he was abducted by the aliens in 1979 and brought back now. Laughing
