Hello everyone!
I bought a helios 44-2 for 1.2 €
it is true that some helios, mounted on Canon, when take a pic touch the mirror ruining the camera?
I have a Canon EOS 450D is dangerous for me? |
Hi! No, you will be fine with this lens on your camera, I use one on my 400D. The problem only happens with the Canon 1D and 5D cameras which have a larger mirror and sensor.
The camera isn't ruined. All that happens is that you get an error message and have to switch it off and on again to clear it. And of course the camera doesn't record any shots!
It's a really nice lens and gives better quality pictures than many more expensive lenses. I hope you enjoy it. Let's see some of your pics when you're ready. _________________ Peter - Moderator |

First of all, great price! Secondly, I have the 550D and there have been no mirror clearance issues. Where you run into that kind of problem is with the full frame 5D but ASP-C should be okay. Enjoy the lens! I guarantee it'll be one of your faves.

Which of the Helios-44 lenses best exhibits the swirly bokeh? I had a 44m-2 or maybe it was 44m-4 and it didn't really have the crazy bokeh this lens is known for. But it also had a lot of haze so perhaps that reduced the crazy bokeh. |

all of them have it the key is good background - e.g. sun shining through leaves or trees/bushes with reflective leaves, which are illuminated by direct sunlight... and a camera with a large sensor, preferably full-frame _________________ (almost) complete list of Helios lenses |

Hi all,
my first post here.
Just bought an Helios 44M M42 Zenit 2/58 (not received yet).
I was looking for more info about this lens. Went through the first pages of this thread but it seems my lens is not listed there.
Since it's an Helios I guess it's a good lens though.
If some of you have any info I'd appreciated to know more about it.
Thanks in advance. |

this is good one with a/m switch and 8blade aperture; most of them are good samples _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/atheist_lenses/

Finally arrived.
As far as I know there are several Helios 44M around like for example 44M-4, 44M-6, and so on. I cannot figure out which type is mine.
Here are two pics of the lens:

Hello guys
Wich model is this?
Not really sure, is it:
44M (38/19), 8 blades, A/M switch - KMZ, common, "M" after "44" means M42 screw-mount (e.g. 1981-82)?
h ttp://img33.imageshack.us/img33/7308/lensk.jpg
I did put a space between the ''h ttp://'' Img code is not working for some reason and also the URL.
Serial number 7955056
Thanks!

Some time ago, I posted a list 50mm Helios lenses. Here is my actual version (intent on M42):
44M (38/19), 8 blades, A/M switch - KMZ, common, "M" after "44" means M42 screw-mount (e.g. 1981-82)
|
But I have one 44m made in 1978. and I think it shoud be 1972-82. |
