So, where is day 2, you may ask? Unfortunately, last Sunday there was rain, and no parade. And given the disastrous weather forecast for next Sunday,
it looks like it will be it with the Carnevale this year. Quite an unlucky year, usually they manage to make at least 3 out of the planned 4 Sundays.
This is part one of day three, other parts will follow:
01. CZ Contax Vario-Sonnar 100-300
02. CZ Contax Vario-Sonnar 100-300

Sorry if I post this chariot again, but in the sunlight it looks to me even funnier than two weeks ago

Thanks Graham. I wish you best of luck in your find, but it's going to be a tough fight. It's a rare lens. It's one of the latest entries in the Contax catalogue (possibly the last zoom to enter the catalogue, or possibly second-to-last if this "honour" goes to the 28-70 - which is however rumoured not to be a legitimate Zeiss child...).
Only one batch of V-S 100-300 was ever produced, in year 1996, for a total of 2373 exemplars, figures that put the lens in the same "truly rare" category as the Distagon 15mm and the 50-60 jahre editions of the 1.2/55 and 1.2/85, which have been produced in similar figures.
I found my copy as a new old stock a couple of years ago. There were four of them if I remember correctly. I only bought one, but always wished to buy two, but I ran short of money and could not do it. Now I wish I could. For the price I paid (550 Euros), I know that today or in a few years from now I may get double this sum in a sale.

Thanks for the info Orio, that's really helpful. I've seen one in the States, so I may need to ask a favour of one of our American members _________________ Graham - Moderator
