Does anyone know if the CZJ 70-210 any good? I just bought one of these but wasn't able to find any info on the internet.... Hopefully it won't be too bad as I gave up the money for Pentax SMC A 70-210 to go for this CZJ.... Thanks. |

I never heard of any Carl Zeiss Jena zoom lens.
I know of the Carl Zeiss Oberkochen 70/210 f/3.5, a very expensive lens, and of the Prakticar 70/210 f/4-5.6, obviously much cheaper.
Do you have a couple of clear fotos of this lens? _________________ Orio, Administrator

I guess this CZJ and Prakticar may be the same lens... Praktica-users.com site says the Prakticar is a Sigma rebranded lens. _________________ Switching from M42 to Minolta MD & Contax/Yashica |

If the info provided is correct, this supposed CZJ lens is one full stop faster than the Prakticar. So it could not be the same lens.
I too thought about the possibility of a Sigma lens - the focal range 70-210 is typically Sigmish.

See here the 4th and 5th versions

What filter thread it has ? 58 or 62mm ? You CZJ has a similar construction/design ?

It seems that it was made an AF version too. _________________ Canonet QL17 III

Yes, you're right Cosmin.
It looks like one of those Japanese Jena-wannabes
But - like Attila said - this does not mean necessarily it's a bad lens. Sloven you will find out by yourself trying it. If you don't like it, you can always sell it and buy something else. So no problem.
