I don't have an AF so thanks for the vote Orio. I never tried any nightime AF shots yet. Only in the store have I used the AF much.
I traded one lens with EdSawyer and got a EF 1.8/50 with the metal mount maybe I will try that one some time.
This one is a friend and Hottae!

Yes, Khidhir I was pretty close but not what you may think.
The R D1 has a crop factor of x1.53 so the 40m lens was in the FL range of a slightly longer normal rather than a slightly shorter one.
Focus was extremely difficult in this scene and composition also.
Timing the firespitter and trying to hold steady while following him was tough.
Here is another shot of him that worked. There are a few more misses that I will not post.
These are probably the last three from this series.
I have been invited to shoot an event next month.
That one spans some daylight hrs and will I will lay off the libations as well for more keepers 
Not really my cup of tea this crowd but fun none the less.
This Performance was quite unusual and the remaining shots of it are not appropriate for a family website like ours
