AVOID ROXSEN

Recently I needed to get some adapters for OM, leica, and contax to eos. Having purchased from them in the past. I requested a quote for items and shipping from roxsen for what I needed . The price of the adapters came to about $55 and shipping would be for first adapter (7BP) + 1BP for each aditional so about $18. So I ordered my items together. When they sent me an invoice the shipping was for $42. I tried repeatedly to email them with no response. After the 9th day since I placed my order they sent a non payment item dispute claim thrue ebay. I mailed them 2 more times and then just paid the bloated invoice. I don't want to chance my 100% feedback for a few bucks. Now I have the adapters and the Leica to Eos arrived with a loose chip. I have mailed roxsen twice with no response. What do you do about these guys. If I give them a neg feedback they will do the same to me. I will never use them again. They have relatively low prices but, ???service and BS tactics. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Question

I'm sorry Andy Sad
Yes the Feedback system of Ebay is a double blade sword... and I have the clear impression that sellers take more advantage of buyers with a perfect feedback history, because they know that they will not want to risk the immaculate feedback rate.
This would not be a concern if Ebay did what good sense would ask to do - that is, to remove all revenge feedback when there is enough evidence that it is not based on truth.
Unfortunately, Ebay always cared more about the sellers than they did about the customers. The whole story of Ebay proves it.
They know that for, say. photography, there are, like 200-300 high volume sellers on Ebay, and, who knows, maybe 2-3 millions of potential buyers all over the world.
It makes no wonder that they choose to protect the 200-300 high volume sellers: when they lose one, they lose a lot of money, present and future. When they lose a customer, there are other 2.999.999 ready to take its place.

I personally have decided that I want to reach feedback point of 200, now that I am very close to it. Then, I will create another identity, and use that one for all transactions that do not seem much secure, or, for all high money transactions. I'll reserve the 200 feedback one for those transactions that I am enough sure about, or where the risk is not too high.

Silly that we have to think about that, but until Ebay does not protect us, we must protect ourselves.

.

That is a great idea. I make a few bucks on ebay with my rebuilt rangefinders. So for me the sales side of feedback is very important. If I only purchased it would not worry me as much. No seller will turn someone away who has 95% or better feedback (well maybe some might). Many buyers however would not purchase from someone who has less than a 98% feedback. I agree with you that sellers bully buyers with the feedback system. It is of comfort to know however. I can post this problem with Roxsen for example here. The impact of the post will likely be much higher than the 20some dollars they stole from me. Thru our community we can still have an impact on these sellers who just want more profit. Also maybe it will lead business to seller who are more deserving of our money.

Hi sunshine
I am happy with Roxsen, the price are so low that I expect low service
they don't answer mail, it's ok for me
I order 3 times and I am satisfied
last order was 2 batteries for 8$ (exact copy of canon), leica adapter for 9.5$ (perfect infinite on 3 lens), B+W 67mm 40$ (this one still in box)
I receive them in 4 days from China
even if I had a experience like yours I would order again
glue the chip and next time order from big_is, the chip is soldered and wont jump out

That is to be expected because they hide the REAL price in shipping costs. Many sellers do that because ebay doesn't get their share from shipping costs.

Where a seller has quoted me a price by email and the invoice is more I just adjust it using the sellers discount box and send the quoted amount. It's worked so far...

I am sorry about that, Andy!

So far I was pretty lucky with Roxsen. I bought three adapters (Nikon, Leica...) from them and have one pending. The adapters were well built and work fine, only the shipping time is a nuisance. It regularly takes two weeks to Germany.
But I never had to complain, so I do not know how they react in such a case.

As far as the shipping costs are concerned, I thought that you would save 1 $ for each additional item. But it might be that I confuse that with another seller.

I keep my fingers crossed that you will keep your clean record and I will get a working adapter. Wink

Andy.
Sorry to hear that!
I got a similar experience with ROXEN, I ordered a chipped adapter M42-EOS and after a long while they raised a claim for unpaid item. After this they sent an email telling me the product was faulty and that they were returning it to the manufacturer, and promised reimboursement...
It took more than one month to get the money back, and I lost some 2€ because the currency exchange (my account was in Euro and ROXEN sells in $, now I got both currencies in Paypal).
I've never bought anything else from ROXSEN since then.

Jes (From Frankfurt).

Thanks for the warning. Note that ebay has said it will change its feedback system so vendors can no longer give negative feedback to buyers (plus assorted other changes). Apparently this is specifically to address revenge feedback, and fear of it meaning bad traders still have good feedback scores.

Also because, in case of a refund (eg they sent the wrong thing, don't have the right thing, or they sent a broken one), they refund the purchase price not the shipping cost.

I just got my chipped Leica-EOS adapter. Again it needed quite a long time to Germany, but it fits tightly and works perfectly. It seems that I was lucky with Roxsen and that you weren't. I am sorry.
