Hello, again !
I start this topic , because I think that it is an interesting subject. There are a few models ,chinese and not chinese , programable and not, ready to be glued on the adapter or sold already glued on the adapter. Some are sold with some device that helps positioning the chip on the adapter.
I own just one chipped adapter M42 to Eos with AF Chip "Dandelion" IV Generation. EMF (made in Lituania or Belarus?): http://cgi.ebay.de/AF-Chip-Dandelion-Generation-IV-EMF-Canon-EOS-/350370598122?pt=DE_Elektronik_Computer_Foto_Camcorder_Foto_Camcorderzubeh%C3%B6r_PM&hash=item5193b70cea

On some bodies at least (Canon) the accuracy of the focus confirmation depends of the sense of rotation of the focusing ring.
On my Rebel XTi it seems that when I am turning the focus ring from close to infinity (counterclockwise) the af confirm is more accurate - at least when I set the camera on MF (the chip allows that ,or can be let on AF-but then I can't use F over 7,1 the af confirm doesn't operate and the shutter doesn't work). Then comes a field where I get beep (focus confirmation) but the result isn't sharp focus(this "zone of confirmed focus "is larger on a 20mm lens than on a 58mm lens).
I found another thread that says the better accuracy is from infinity to close http://forum.mflenses.com/canon-eos-af-confirmation-chip-quick-test-t32516,highlight,canon+autofocus.html
I think that the AF confirm chip should be helped by a viewfinder magnifier ( at least on a crop camera )
In your experience ,wich are the best and the best way to use them?

With my 350D I used a split-screen and an eyepiece magnifier and sometimes an AF-chipped adapter.
With my 5D I only use the EE-S screen.
With my (new) old 300D and my 40D I use just the original screen.

I wish that there's something (firmware or chip) to help with CDAF on m4/3 cams. Or better, sensor-based PDAF or m4/3! Very Happy

Hi,

I use a Katzeye split screen and a viewfinder magnifier for my K10D and an Eg-S screen for my 5D ...

But i'm willing to try an AF-confirm chip adapter on my EOS, just i don't know which one performs better ...

I've two adapters, with chip and without. I more and more rely on the (standard) screen, but that's because I'm getting used to my gear. For my AF chip, I'd say focus is better from infinity than to infinity...

getting addapted to the gear is very important .
And I think that's very important to stop (almost) instantly from rotating the focus ring .That requires attention and practice .
ylyad, what chip do you have , is a programable one or is a simple one?

I was about to put a better focusing screen in my Canon before it met it's untimely end. With the K-x I am using the standard screen and nothing else, there is a much bigger viewfinder though.

Standard one. One thing to mention: the pinhole is slightly too large, so contacts don't remain properly aligned while focusing - depends which way i'm turning to focus Wink that does not help...
I was wondering getting a Big_Is programmable chip, but I'm also wondering additional gear Very Happy and if I've to buy another ring, I'm thinking of another mount than M42 - but which one? CY? OM? K? Nikon? Ah, choici is difficult Wink

I have the Panasonic L-1.. not only can it take nearly any make of MF lens, but EVERY one is focus confirmed without the need for a chipped adapter! Smile Smile

I use the normal screen that came in the K200D.

This is an interesting explanation.Don't know if this is the right one. This means that your adapter wobbles alittle on the camera? Mine does the same thing .I must look at the dimensions of the pinhole.
this is why I refered at chips and not adapters .The idea is that one should buy the best adapter and eventually glue the chip on it.
