I look forward to testing this beta and seeing if the quirks from LR 3 have been sorted out.

Btw, any Lightroom 3 users here who can tell me if LR 3 has the clipping indicator familiar to CS5 users? (I admit not knowing too much about LR, I used it for the trial period but found it disappointing.) See the enclosed image, it's a screen grab of an exposure I raped to show how CS5 indicates with red color burnt highlights and lost shadows with blue.

LR4 will NOT work with anything older than windows Vista, which is a blow as I use XP pro

It does indeed. ACR and Lightroom are similar under several respects.

Unfortunately, LR4 beta only works with Win Vista or higher ver!! Mad

I have it running under Win 7.

Adobe doesn't care about the systems of their customers. Whoever wants to use their latest products, needs to use the latest hardware and OS. That's what they think.

And what is even worse is that you can only use the latest ACR versions with the latest software editions! That's really bad!

+1 for your second comment!!

However, I think the first comment is a bit harsh! From my understanding, the demand on the system is much greater now (need 64 bit) to support the image processing requirement imposed by the software. Of course, they could have release a 32-bit option with reduced features, but I guess that would be self-defeating if they are trying to promote the latest and greatest software improves!!

Thanks for sharing. I've been using LR2 for a long time - holding out for 4, so I was waiting for this.

Does anybody know if an update will be available from V3?

Ah, I guess that the student and teacher edition will be cheaper than the update anyway... Wink

So, I think I will test version4 and then buy it as a teacher's edition once it's out.
