Nice one, i like it.
I have the "old" non UMC version and looks like the newer one is for Nikon only, am i correct?

So it seems. In PL the UMC version is available in Nikon mount only.

I had one for a while, but couldn't quite take to it. I had trouble focusing it and wasn't too fond of the rendering, so I sold it to fund my macro Tokina.

Anyway, i came up with a simple and probably stupid idea, i'll let you expert guys tell me if it is feasible or not.
All of you know that the 85 has a bit of a long minimum focusing distance. Now, would it be possibile to prolonge the focus travel to allow like 10 more cm of mfd? Seems feasible but i haven't checked wheter there is enough metal to trim and if the lens would perform nicely.
What do you think?

Maybe you can buy extension tubes? Smile The possibility to break your lens by modifying it is huge Smile it is an internal focus lens and it is complicated.

It is such a nice lens!

It is great for portrait work!

Very nice photos simbon4o! I have one of those lenses as well, but used it just once or twice. Still having my trusty and very sharp canon 85mm 1.8 and another re-birthed canon fd 85mm 1.2 L

Nice work Simbon !
#1 is a very impressive demonstration of this lens.
I agree, extension tubes should be used if needed.

Great array of models, Simbon!
I choose #1 as photograph, and #6 and #8 for models Wink

simbon4o, very nice shots!
Strange, I bought it brand-new lens in box, non UMC with printed "Multi-Coated" in the box. The glass have green coating.

Fancy this old thread popping up again!

To answer your question it would have been the older, non-UMC version and I no longer have it having sold it after a couple of months.

Interesting this UMC/non-UMC thing... I wasn't aware of that.
Does it mean that UMC is multicoated and the other is not?

I really like the following picture - is it taken with UMC copy or with non-UMC? :

Very nice images, simbon4o, especially number 1. Am I the only one seeing a 3-D pop?
