Because of the other thread (on Minolta CE Rokkor lenses) I was reminded of the Computar DL 30 mm f/2.8 enlarging lens... what a weirdly unique and interesting lens this is:

Looks great!

I've not see many photos with it. What are its the most special aspects?

Thanks! First of all it's giant - double the size and weight of the F. Zuiko 38 mm f/2.8, the CE Rokkor 30 mm f/2.8 etc. It also has a very big image circle, showing no significant amount of vignetting, even at infinity. It has a 9 elements in 7 groups construction. Here's the drawing from https://photocornucopia.com/1071.html.

Unlike many other WA lenses I've tried, it even got a pretty big rear element, so for the stuff I'm doing most (close-up/macro) it's a uniquely interesting lens, which even allows for some T/S experiments.

Violets at 1:1. Sony A7r3 Rayfact 90mm on 45mm extension at f11 then f8, twin flash, ISO 200, hand held.

These were shot at slightly different angles. I rotated the pot, in relation to the flash guns, to get the two flowers in the same plane of principal focus for the f8.

There is a slight optical illusion from the pattern in the right flower on the first pair.

Thanks! Looks great for flowers and lemons Smile

Vintage convertable. 1922 Morris Cowley Bullnose. Classic Cars 13 April 2025. Sony A7r3, Minolta MD 50mm f2 at f11, except engine f8, hand held.

Some of the cars were lit by mottled sunlight. I exposed for sun.

There are some spooky effects in some images.

I have adjusted some shadows and highlights.

This was the first time I tried the lens. I fitted a short hood. I think I have found the 50mm for my A7rs.

Again, with my Minolta 50mm lens on the A7r3.

The badge says "Tiger Racing".

Tomioka Copal-E36 80 mm f/4:

My previous images were shot with flash and with flash white balance. They came out rather pink.

These shots are with the same setup but in cloudy daylight and cloudy WB, at ISI 800.

They were pink again. In the Sony "Editor" only one frame showed as blue. This is worrying.

These images are after adjusting hue in PS.

Citroen Dyane 6

Classic Cars April 13, 2025. Sony A7r3, Minolta MD 50mm f2 at f11.

Lotus Elise 2003. A Hurricane induction kit gives a really throaty K series sound.

"In a city full of some of the rarest, most spectacular cars ever made, this little Toyota-powered British sports car flies under the radar for all but the nerdiest among us. It's four times rarer than the Veyron, ten times rarer than the Ferrari F40, nearly as rare as the McLaren F1".

"The top speed is 131 mph, and it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds. The fuel economy is 40.9 mpg combined".

Sony A7r3, Minolta MD 50mm f2 at f11.

Triumph TR6. Sony A7r3, Minolta MF 50mm/f2 at f11.

Once again, I had to reduce the images from 1600 to 1500 pixels to upload.

I love how well this works in 3D - the paint seems to add to the effect with not being shiny at all.

Orange Pyracantha Berries October 2018

I quite like the dark shadows but I have moderated them slightly.

Olympus EM-1, Kiron 105mm.

Lilac today. A7r3, CZJ Biotar 58mm f2 at f11 ISO 160, hand held. My first outing with this lens.

I had to moderate highlights a lot.

Solanum. A7r3, Nikon Rayfact RJ 90mm at f11, ISO 5000, FOV 45mm wide, hand held.

This was in an awkward position in a shaded greenhouse where flash was not practicable.

I took several pairs but f11 seemed not adequate and there are some issues, including aphids wich moved between exposures.

Abutilon vitifolia "Purple"

Sony A7r3, Nikon Rayfact RJ 90mm (no extension), f11, ISO 400, hand held.

I had to reduce the quality from 12 to 11 to upload.

Wisteria. UV Topcor f3.5 35mm at f11 (possibly f16), hand held.

I have had this lens for a few months so I thought I should try it out. I have more, unprocessed, stereo images from this session.

Best viewed after clicking:

For those who like wide open shots, here is a pair at f3.5.

Tree Paeony

Sony A7r3, UV Topcor f3.5 35mm at f11 and minimum focus distance. This flower is about the size of the palm of my hand. I have cropped a bit off the right side of the individual images before making the stereo.

There is some excellent detail.

Aporophyllum. Sony A7r3, Nikon Rayfact 90mm 1/125 sec at f11 ISO 320 FOV 115mm wide. Hand held.

The blob of colour at the bottom is a flower bud behind.
