Hallo!

Three 28mm are now in competition:

1) Asahi Takumar SMC 28/3,5 M42 (Ebayprice: 34,16€) - like new
2) SOLIGOR C/D 28/2,8 PK (17€) blind is slow
3) AUTO REVUENON MC 28/2,8 PK (36€) - like new

The Soligor has a slow blind, the others are like new, super mechanik, clear and good maintained.

All of them are good, I think.
Soligor is the sharpest.
The Takumar are on M42, it could be the oldest len´s amongst them.

Another pic from the auto revuenon:

I hope, this test will show something about the 28mm lenses about 30€.

regards Peter

Which aperture did you shoot the bookshelf with?

PostPosted: Fri Apr 25, 2008 3:59 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

I'm surprised with the Takumar result.
I have this lens.

Any idea who made the Revuenon ?

An Carsten:
The aperture was 4,0.

A german side explain the source of revuenon:

Sigma or Mamiya and onother producer´s (lower quality)

Are the bookshelf images possibly out of focus? Something seems "off" to me, maybe it's just my tired old eyes! Shocked

I think the bookshelf shots are crops.

My 28mm f3.5 SMC Takumar was quiet crappy.

Hi luis - yes, they are crops...but it looks like the focus still might no be right on target. Again, might just be me.

And Peter, THANKS for posting. The Revuenon looks the best to me, on the bookshelf test. Maybe my eyes ARE all too old! Shocked

Must have been a lemon I guess. I'm very pleased with mine

Seems yes!

To be honest, up to this test, I never saw a bad looking image,
which came from a Takumar.

Peter, maybe you got a bad copy?!

Takumars seem to be solid above-average lenses. I have two SMC Takumars and both are very good, although none is the best of what I have in the respective focal ranges. I'd summarize that they are solid lenses that you can trust.

I will send any pic´s from the takumar and the Soligor. I think, the takumar is also good.

regards Peter

Impressive start, though some crops from "real world" tests would be nice. I'm surprised at how well the Soligor did, given that brand's generally mediocre reputation.

The build quality of Takumars is fantastic, the best I have, but I think I have to reluctantly agree with you about the optics. Of the ones I have, the 1.4/50 Super-Tak is brilliant, on a par with the Pancolar 50, and the 3.5/135 S-M-C Tak compares with the CZJ 3.5/135 and the J-37A. The 85, 100 and 105 lenses seem to be popular too. But my 1.8/55 and 3.5/28 SMC are only a bit above average and the 3.5/35 is pretty ordinary.

A walk around with the takumar 1:3,5/25

aperture: 5,6

Pic´s are only resiced.

The lens works very well, but I miss a little bit sharpness.

and another takumar test - pic´s

The lens is around 36 Jears old, and one of the first super-multi-coated. It´s like new, the last owner was very nice
Wink

Now, I will test the soligor, before the sun goes down.

greeting Peter

Now some tries with soligor C/D 28mm 1:2,8 aperture 5,6

the soligor

the asahi takumar

The soligor is great, this is a good one, but this is fortune.
The aperture is slow, so I eliminate the aperture-stick, it´s only possible to work with the preset aperture (like M42-lenses).

salute Peter

The sun is in another position, sorry.

The soligor is not so colored. It´s another character. At last, I find the Takumar better, it´s a brisker imaging.

salute Peter

Thank you, interesting comparison.

I don't think the contrast and color difference is properly compared because of the very different lighting, so I would make no conclusion there.

But the Soligor does seem sharper than the Takumar, that is easy to see.

Thanks for the test Peter
Based on resolution, color, contrast and chromatic aberrations those lens doesn't look very good to me
Maybe it is a processing problem
Do you shot in jpeg ?
What soft and procedure do you use ?
